The Heart Centre at ESNEFT has introduced it's first CPR Arm device, purchased with the support of charitable donations. Inspired after seeing one in action at Norfolk and Norwich University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, Kevin Foy, Chief Cardiac Physiotherapist at ESNEFT, reached out to Colchester & Ipswich Hospitals Charity to secure funds and bring this advanced technology to Ipswich Hospital.

The CPR Arm provides significant improvement over manual chest compressions. Being smaller, lighter, and more manoeuvrable, this arm allows uninterrupted chest compressions without obstructing medical procedures. An important addition this CPR Arm brings is it's carbon fibre board which is lightweight and radiotransparent, making it not only easier to lift under the patient but also provides clear x-ray access which is crucial for catheter procedures.

Kevin Foy, Chief Cardiac Physiotherapist at ESNEFT said: "For us specifically in the Heart Centre, surgeons can carry on doing the procedure while also seeing what they need to do a lot better, as the CPR Arm is smaller and doesn't take up so much space."

With adjustable height settings for both adults and children, automated compression adjustments and the ability to pause for breaths, the CPR Arm allows continuous CPR with minimal hands-off time - greatly increasing patient survival chances.
