During these services, prayers are said and each baby is remembered with the lighting of a candle. The service is then followed by refreshments. This service is offered to anyone who has suffered a loss of a baby recently or in the past. We will add details of each service as they are confirmed. They are usually held in May in Clacton, and in October in Colchester and Ipswich. What is the Tree of Remembrance? The Tree of Remembrance in situated in Holywells Park, Ipswich and offers bereaved parents the opportunity to honour their baby in a simple and quiet way. Each leaf is engraved with the name, the date of birth and a short message for a baby lost in pregnancy or the neonatal period. The leaves are paid for from donations and through fundraising from the Ipswich Baby Bereavement Support Group. Although there is no charge for the leaves, they are £40 each so all donations to subsidise the cost are gratefully received. We rely on the support and generosity of the community to help make the service for bereaved parents even better. Through donations and fundraising we have been able to purchase items and provide support to help grieving families. So far, we have funded a quiet room, memory boxes and specialist cuddle cots so families can remain together for longer after birth. If you would like to donate or fundraise for baby bereavement, please make sure you confirm the name and location of the group you would like to support. Please reference Baby Bereavement Group for Ipswich Hospital and The Rosemary Suite for Colchester Hospital. Thank you for your very kind support.
