A new piece of interactive gaming equipment is helping to brighten the days of young patients at Ipswich Hospital, thanks to a generous donation to Ipswich Hospitals Children's Department.

The Children's Department at Ipswich Hospital recently received a Rockin' R Gaming Cart specially designed to bring comfort, distraction and play to children and young people in hospital. The cart, which features a built-in gaming console and screen, can be moved between bedsides and wards. It will help provide fun, normality and valuable emotional support to children during their stay.

One of the first patients to try out the new equipment was seven year-old Sophia, who recently spent a week on the unit. Despite being given the call clear, Sophia wasn't quite ready to leave the ward wanting to have another go on the games console.

“She absolutely loved it. The play team made such a difference to her experience.- Sophia's Mother

The Rockin' R Charity provides interactive medical gaming carts to children's wards across the UK and Ireland. Their aim is to reduce anxiety, support wellbeing and make time in hospital a little bit easier for children and young people. Research has shown that gaming can support emotional resilience, encourage social interaction and offer a sense of control during uncertain times.

Colchester & Ipswich Hospitals Charity support enhancements like this, helping to bring comfort and joy to children and families at a time when they need it most.
