A new piece of interactive gaming equipment is helping brighten the hospital experience for children and young patients at Ipswich Hospital's Children Department, thanks to a generous donation funding the purchase of a Rockin' R Gaming Cart.

The Children's Department recently received a Rockin' R Gaming Cart, especially designed to bring comfort, distraction and play to children and young people in hospital. The cart, which features a built-in gaming console and screen, can be moved between bedsides and wards helping to provide fun, normality and valuable emotional support during a hospital stay.

Research has shown that gaming can support emotional resilience, encourage social interaction and offer a sense of control during uncertain times.

One of the first patients to try out the new equipment was seven year old Sophia Woods (pictured left), who recently spent a week on the hospital ward. Delighted with the console, Sophia's mother said that although she was given the call clear, it was hard to get her away from the Play Team and this new equipment.

Donations to Colchester & Ipswich Hospitals Charity supports enhancements like this, helping bring comfort and joy to children and families at a time when they need it most.
