Community support helps grow the Time Garden Appeal Local community groups have come together to support the Time Garden Appeal, which aims to create a calm, peaceful outdoor space for end-of-life patients, their families and loved ones at Ipswich Hospital. In December 2025, Tiptree Road Runners raised an incredible £1,200 for the appeal through their popular Tiptree 10 Road Race, held on 10th December. Led by organiser Jodie Wells and her dedicated committee, the event once again proved to be a huge success. The running club regularly supports local causes and selected Colchester & Ipswich Hospitals Charity as a beneficiary for 2025, choosing to direct their donation specifically towards the Time Garden at Ipswich Hospital. Jodie shared that the club was delighted to support a project that will make such a meaningful difference for patients and families, and they are looking forward to following the garden’s progress. “As a local volunteer run club, we opt to support local. We ask members to nominate charities themselves. Colchester & Ipswich Hospitals Charity was put forward by Morven Hurding, lead cancer nurse at East Suffolk & North Essex Cancer Wellbeing Centre. She has seen the impact the Time Garden has at Colchester Hospital, so she is really pleased that some of our raised funds can go towards the Ipswich Time Garden Appeal”. The appeal has also been supported by Sarah Ann Gray, also known as Lil Miss Bumba, and her dance community, the Bumba Tribe. As part of their annual festivities, Sarah and her supporters held a fundraising raffle, raising £452 for the Time Garden. Sarah recently visited Ipswich Hospital to see the area set aside for the garden and to present the donation. Having danced with many of her clients for over 11 years, Sarah explained that her community has experienced both love and loss together, and understands how important a peaceful, natural space can be for people at the end of life, as well as for friends and families. As a strong advocate for the healing power of nature, she said supporting the Time Garden felt deeply personal. Together, these generous contributions are helping to turn the Time Garden into a reality. Visit here for more details. Donate to the Time Garden Appeal Manage Cookie Preferences
